6/13/18 - Max FB: 83, FB: 81-83, Avg FB: 81.45, CB: 71-72
5-foot-10, 180-pound, RHP showed intriguing stuff, but profiles best as a catcher. Short, athletic frame w/ present lower half strength, some physical projection. Pitches from a full wind-up into over the top release from the third base side of the rubber. Super quick arm w/ velocity upside. Glove side is just along for the ride, occasionally pulls him down, making it harder to stay in the strike zone. Occasional cocking action. Learning to repeat delivery, get arm consistently on time. Angle. Straight FB shows occasional short arm-side run. Medium downer CB did not have the tight finish it had when we saw him the week prior, inconsistent shape on this day. CB flashed plus a week ago. Sprayed the zone, more thrower than pitcher on this day. Projects to control as he learns to utilize his lower half to get his super quick arm on time. Generated 2 swing and misses on 15 swings.
6/13/18 - Home-1st: 4.25, Pop Time: 2.13-2.19, Position Velocity: C-77, Exit Velocity: 84
5-foot-10, 180-pound, LHH showcases plus running speed w/ bat speed. Short, athletic frame w/ present lower half strength, some physical projection. Offensively, hits w/ an open, upright stance w/ hand rhythm into stride to square and short hand load. Generates above average bat speed through the zone. Top of the order tools, lot of line drives w/ all fields approach. Knack for contact, 1 swing and miss on 7 swings. Slap type hitter at this point, content to hit gaps and use his plus speed to leg out extra base hits. As he learns to pull the ball on the inner half, will unlock some pull power. Plus runner projects to above average as frame continues to mature and the innings he logs at catcher begins to take its toll. Defensively, presents a solid low target for his pitchers, can present it earlier. Shows ability to stick the baseball w/ idea of how to frame the baseball. Handled one of the more challenging arms to handle, a righty throwing heavy cutters and occasional beat the ball to the spot. Athletic receiver w/ ability to box the baseball. As a thrower, shows arm strength w/ carry to target, around the bag accuracy.
