The reactive strength index measurement of an athlete's explosiveness by comparing their jump height to the ground contact time in between their jumps. On a scale of 0-5.
Vertical Jump
A measure of any athlete's body strength and reach calculated from the flight time divided by the contact time.
The Vanderbilt LHP signee came on late last spring and has been fun to watch his development. Tall, lean build at 6 foot, 160-pounds that has plenty of opportunity to add continued muscle to his frame as he matures and progresses in a weight training program. He attacked hitters all night and was consistently getting ahead into good pitcher counts. He gave up a few hits early with all of the damage against him coming in the first inning before settling down and not surrendering a hit the rest of his outing. He worked mostly in the 85-87 MPH range with his fastball to both sides of the plate with good sinking run, while mixing in a curveball in the low 70’s to go along with a slider to lefties in the mid/upper 70’s that presented late sweeping action. Finished the game with 8Ks over the course of 5 innings to go with two walks. Opens up well with his hips and stays in line to home plate consistently with a little bit of crossfire over his front side. More velocity to come as he gets into a college strength program.
