The 6-foot-2, 195-pound catcher/third baseman made the largest jump in the entire 2021 class, climbing over 100 spots after exploding onto the scene this January. Martin walloped the baseball in his BP round at the Preseason All-State Showcase, big time gains since the summer of 2019. Significantly better bat speed and launched the baseball gap-to-gap, ability to pick up extra base hits in bunches. Also, made gains behind the dish going sub 2.00 pop time with cleaner mechanics and better carry on throws. Similar to Wright and Combs, provides a solid glove at 3B as an offensive hybrid role with the tools to stay behind the dish.

6-foot-2, 195-pound projectable frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter's 89 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Started in a crouched open stance, had a wrapping load and used a short stride right before his swing. Displays quick bat speed, an uphill swing plane and high finish. Line drive approach. In the infield, displayed a velocity of 79 mph across the field; had quick footwork and soft hands. While catching, displayed his ability to control the run game with a pop time of 1.86-1.99. He made strong, efficient throws to second at velocities up to 75 mph. Showed a high ¾ slot with short arm action.

6-foot-2, 174-pound, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, projectable. Has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Offensively, setup is wide, straight on, slightly crouched stance w/ low handset. Positive move to ball is very quick but consistent. Does a good job of moving his center of mass to generate bat speed. Bat arrived in the zone early and stayed through the ball consistently. Showed + ability to find the barrel. Projectable high OPS offensie catcher at the next level. Defensively a quiet receiver w/ feel for framing the baseball. Moves well behind the dish w/ above average blocking technique. As a thrower, shows good technique and consistent accuracy. Projectable above average defensive catcher.
7/24/18 - Home-1st: 4.62, Position Velocity: C-71, Exit Velocity: 81 6-foot-1, 165-pound, RHH picked up a hit in game. Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned lean strength, projectable. Has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Offensively, hits w/ a wide, slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ bat resting on back shoulder into shift of weight, short stride and short hand load. Generates bat speed through the zone. Struggled with timing on this day, started late and was playing catch-up to the baseball. Occasional length. Projectable gap power type. Defensively, presents a quality target underneath the hitter’s knees w/ ability to maintain the target throughout w/ no glove rest. Needs to work on presenting the same target in his action stance, tendency to leave glove slightly closed. Quiet receiver w/ feel for framing the baseball. Flashes mobility to box the baseball. As a thrower, shows solid footwork and release w/ projectable arm strength. Projectable above average defensive catcher.
