The 5-foot-10, 170-pound infielder out of CPA has cleaned up some things at the plate, and is starting to emerge into a prospect. Medium, athletic frame with slight projection. Switched to more open stance with more balance throughout swing. Controlled load and moderate leg kick, using the body to generate bat speed rather than trying to muscle the ball. Catching barrels more consistently with heavy dose of line drives and some gap juice. In what should be a deep infield group at CPA, Dillard will look to get in the mix and could be in for a big summer.
7/21/20
5’10, 170-pound middle infielder showed intriguing all-around skill-set. Medium, athletic frame w/ some well-proportioned lean strength, super projectable. Offensively, hits w/ a very slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into short stride on his toe and proper load. Generates bat speed through the zone. Picked up a clean triple in game, hammering a ball to deep left center. At his best when looking to pepper line drives to all fields. Projectable pull power type. On the dirt, shows solid footwork w/ soft hands, side-arm release and carry to target arm strength. On the mound, the righty pitches from a full wind-up into a ¾ release. Slinger w/ some slot deception. Straight FB shows occasional short arm-side run. CB is a slurve, mixing between SL like ¾ tilt and slowing his arm down and getting on top of it into a short downer. Arm slot seems more conducive to the SL break. Sprayed the zone on this day.
