Chase Clatur (Nolensville, 2024) Clatur jumped on my radar last spring as an uncommitted junior with plenty of ability and arm talent that projects for much more down the line. The strike-throwing ability and presence is easily noticeable with him as he does a great job of controlling the game and staying composed in pressure moments. He is a really strong competitor and was evident getting multiple strikeouts when he had himself in danger with runners in scoring position. The fastball generates a lot of late arm-side run, while coming in consistently in the upper 80’s (T:89). The slider was also equally as impressive with late sharp bite that had hitters swinging over it and half-checking their swing. In total he would go 5 innings, giving up 2 soft hits and racking up 10 K’s with 0 runs. Clatur struggled in his first game, but has settled in nicely in back to back outings. He also comes in with athleticism and hitting ability at the plate, where he helped himself out getting all of a pitch to deep left-field hitting off the top of the wall for a stand-up double. Clatur will be a major factor for Nolensville this season offensively and especially on the mound as their #1. Murray State is getting a kid that likely comes in and competes for innings right away.
Uncommitted, slender athletic frame at 6-0, 155-lbs. Soft hand rhythm at the plate w/ direct path to the ball and gap-to-gap pop (T 90.6; Avg: 82.8 exit velocity). Also mashed a double into the RCF gap during gameplay. Defensively, active feet but moves well and short arm action w/ carry in throws (86 INF Velo) plus 7.06 sixty. On the mound, threw two strong innings. FB at 80-84 w/ heaviness and arm side life (Avg: 1787 rpm). Mixed tight spinning SL at 71-74 (T 2467 rpm) w/ 10/4 bite & some swing n miss. Tunnels the two-pitch mix well and generated some bad swings from opposing hitters.
