5-foot-10, 180-pound OF/RHP has continued to improve heading into the 2022 Spring Season. Proportional frame with improved strength in lower half. Balanced, slightly open stance with small stride and creates good head/hand separation in load. Generates advanced bat speed (T 77; Avg: 73) with uphill plane and strong two handed finish. Improved pop at the plate with consistent hard contact (T 96.4; Avg: 91 exit velo), flashing gap power. Defensively, profiles as a corner outfielder with above average arm strength (84 OF Velo) in the class and 7.11 runner.
On the mound, repeats the delivery well with tempo and solid balance point. Long front side with arm working up to 3/4 slot and slightly closed foot landing. Good feel for mix and pounds the zone. FB at 80-82 (T 2236 rpm) with solid carry thru the zone while working down in the zone. Manipulates shape of two breaking balls with more 12/6 CB at 66-69 (T 2210 rpm) and 11/5 action SL at 69-71 (T 2287 rpm). Throws both for strikes as he utilizes CB as more strike lander/change of pace and SL as more of a chase pitch to RHH. Improved CH at 70-71 with good arm speed and late fade plus some depth. Overall, Coffey has continued to make strides as a legit two-way prospect to follow.
