The 6-foot, 210-pound backstop made a steady jump in the rankings after a strong offensive showing at the Preseason All-State Showcase. Cutrell topped the leaderboard with 98 Exit Velo and showed smooth hands on his throwdowns with 1.93-2.01 Pop Time. Our scouting staff caught Cutrell again in early season district action vs Hendersonville (3.11.20), when he had a big time oppo-taco double off the wall. Cutrell is a one to watch once baseball gets up and rolling again.

8/11/18 - 60 Time: 7.41, Pop Time: 2.06-2.16, Position Velocity: IF-69, C-69, Exit Velocity: 84 5-foot-11, 180-pound, RHH showed intriguing offensive potential. Medium, sturdy frame w/ present lower half strength, projectable upper body. Has a chance to have a monster frame. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, very slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into leg kick and very short hand load. Generates bat speed through the zone. Lower half lands slightly open, creating hips leaking slightly and a pull-oriented approach. Learning to stay in sync between his upper and lower halves. Lot of offensive potential waiting to be unlocked as he develops body control and gets on time consistently. Projectable pull power w/ chance for all fields power. Defensively, worked out at 3B and caught. On the dirt, shows solid hands and developing footwork. As a catcher, presents a solid target w/ little glove rest. Would benefit by presenting it lower to allow his defensive acumen to play up. Shows ability to get under the baseball and present balls as strikes. Strong receiver w/ strength to stick the baseball when he chooses. Tools to be an above average receiver. As a thrower, shows a quick release w/ developing arm strength as he learns to get his lower half involved, tends to just be along for the ride.
