6-1, 225-pound corner infielder is part of a young, loaded Bearden nucleus, with himself bringing some thump to the middle of the order. Medium, sturdy frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, close to mature. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, very slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into toe tap and proper load. Still head, repeatable swing w/ barrel feel. Had one of the more impressive BP’s on the day, finding barrels consistently and with authority. Understands how to use his lower half to generate bat speed. Projectable up the middle to pull power, ultimate power ceiling will be determined by playability in game of his swing. Defensively, stood out with arm strength from 1B (and on the mound, where he was up to 83), w/ solid hands and good footwork. Possesses enough athleticism to help in a corner OF spot or 3B as well.
6-1, 225-pound righty profiles best as a position player, but shows the pitching tools to help in a bullpen. Medium, sturdy frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, close to mature. Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber. Compact, repeatable delivery. FB shows cut, learning to harness consistently. Spins a tight CB, short downer, slurve-like at times. Learning to get consistent with the pitch, tendency to bury on this day. Firm straight CH. Around the zone w/ the FB, developing feel for secondaries.
7/27/16 - Home-1st: 5.38, Position Velocity: 74, Exit Velocity: 78 5-foot-10, 210-pound, RHH hits from a wider and slightly open stance that shows a little bit of athleticism, uses a little bit of a leg kick and a good sized stride along with a rhythmic barrel tilt to get himself loaded, lower half works well and generally puts him in a position to succeed, some occasional drift, bat path got steep when he muscled up, has potential to drive the ball, still very young as a 2020. Defensively, showed solid hands and average footwork although you can tell he knows the position very well, made every play and made some good throws across the infield with decent arm strength and carry. Had a 2B in game play.
