12/19/15 - The 5-foot-8, 148-pound prospect posted a 4.69 home to first time (4.51 previous best) and had an 85 mph position velocity from the outfield. Defensively, Steelman throws from an over the top arm slot, has accuracy on his throws, shows good overall arm strength, soft hands, fluid footwork, and a quick release. Offensively, Steelman shows fast bat speed from the right side and had an 86 mph exit velocity off the tee. Steelman hits from an open setup with a leg kick involved, uses his lower half well, brings an aggressive approach to the plate and has quickness in hands, shows the ability to make hard contact to all fields.
On the mound, the 5-foot-8, 148-pound prospect with a small athletic build throws from a high ¾ arm slot with quick arm speed and loose arm action. Steelman’s fastball with slight arm-side run sat at 78-81 mph and pounded the strike zone. Steelman’s curveball had 1/7 movement and sat 69-72 mph. He also showed a changeup with some fade and near fastball arm speed that sat at 73-74 mph and pounded the strike zone. Steelman continues to show good pitchability and certainly will bring a quality left-handed arm to a college program.
10/11/15 - The 5 foot 8, 145-pound prospect posted a 7.19 60 time and had an 85 mph position velocity from the outfield. Defensively Steelman throws from an over the top arm slot that produces good online carry on throws, good arm strength, soft hands, fluid footwork with athletic actions, clean exchange and natural outfield instincts. Offensively from the right side Steelman shows fast bat speed and had an 80 mph exit velocity off the tee. Steelman hits from an open setup with a leg kick and aggressive stride, uses his lower half, level path, aggressive approach, loose hands, makes hard contact to all fields. Steelman went 0 for 3 during game play.
On the mound, The smaller 5-foot-8, 145-pound athletic lefty woks through a high-3/4 slot with quick/clean arm action,  fastball sat 78-80mph and varied between some cutting action and arm-side run, curveball varied between 12/6 and 1/7 action at 70-71 mph which was harder than at previous event, he showed a change up which sat 67-69mph with good downward action and throws it with good arm action.  Steelman had three strikeouts in two inning pitched only giving up one hit for the maroon team. Though considered undersized, Steelman has shown good arm strength and pitchability. It would not be surprising to see additional velocity out of the lefty.
8/16/15 - The 5 foot 8, 140- pound prospect has grown an inch and added 10 pounds to frame since last fall, posted a 7.15 60 time and had an 86 mph position velocity from the outfield. Defensively Steelman has shorter arm action, good arm strength, accuracy, soft hands, quick exchange, and fluid footwork with athletic actions. Hits from a tall and open setup, aggressive stride but maintains balance, aggressive approach, loose hands, is a line drive type hitter with ability to make hard contact to all fields. Steelman went 2-for-5 during game play. On the mound the lefty throws from a high-¾ arm angle with a balanced delivery Arm is quick with clean arm action. Works both sides of the plate well.  Steelman’s fastball sat from 78-79mph and varied between some occasional run and cutting action. Curveball shows 1/7 trajectory with a long break sitting from 65-67 mph. Stuck with the two-pitch mix. Steelman had a solid performance on the mound, throwing one inning, striking out two with no runs scored on no hits.
11/1/14 - 5-foot-7, 132-pound prospect posted a 4.51 home to 1st time and 73 mph exit velocity. Small build with some explosiveness, showed solid defensive skills, takes precise routes to ball, plays through well, high-3/4 arm slot with medium action, quick arm, 85 mph velocity from the outfield, plays thru ball.  Slightly open hitting stance, good hand usage, slight collapse on backside causes an uphill path to the ball, line drive approach, shows ability to go to the opposite field. Speed was on display in game play where he went 1-for-4 beating out an infield single. Frame should continue to fill out and Steelman will get stronger. Has potential to be a center field prospect at the collegiate level.  On the mound, Steelman uses long arm action from the high- 3/4 arm slot, fastball sat 77-78 mph, shows arm side run and occasional cut, curveball sat 65-70 mph with 1/7 shape, near fastball arm speed, can throw it effectively in the zone, changeup is second best secondary pitch with good sink at 67-69, flashes good, repeatable mechanics, most effective when front shoulder stays in, pounds bottom half of the zone, gave up two singles, and recorded four strikeouts during game play. Works quick, good presence. Needs to get stronger, especially lower half in order to take some wear and tear off shoulder.
