On the mound, the 5-foot-8, 148-pound prospect with a small athletic build throws from a high ¾ arm slot with quick arm speed and loose arm action. Steelman’s fastball with slight arm-side run sat at 78-81 mph and pounded the strike zone. Steelman’s curveball had 1/7 movement and sat 69-72 mph. He also showed a changeup with some fade and near fastball arm speed that sat at 73-74 mph and pounded the strike zone. Steelman continues to show good pitchability and certainly will bring a quality left-handed arm to a college program.
On the mound, The smaller 5-foot-8, 145-pound athletic lefty woks through a high-3/4 slot with quick/clean arm action, fastball sat 78-80mph and varied between some cutting action and arm-side run, curveball varied between 12/6 and 1/7 action at 70-71 mph which was harder than at previous event, he showed a change up which sat 67-69mph with good downward action and throws it with good arm action. Steelman had three strikeouts in two inning pitched only giving up one hit for the maroon team. Though considered undersized, Steelman has shown good arm strength and pitchability. It would not be surprising to see additional velocity out of the lefty.
