Vincent Purcell: RHP/1B, (2023) East Greenwich, RI. 6-foot, 190-pound projectable athletic build. Projectable on the mound, showed developing arm speed, he had a long arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher who shows some effort. Showed consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands closed with a balanced finish. Threw his fastball 74-77 mph; had running action and command arm side around the zone. Shows glove side control and sweeping action on his curveball (58-61). Showed arm side control and gradual fading action on his changeup (70-73).

5-foot- 11 175-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball sat 77-79 mph with minimal arm side run. The spin pitch is 61-63 mph, big in shape. The pitch is big in shape, and needs more fastball hand speed. The changeup is 67-68 mph and still developing and trending upwards. The delivery is online and the slot is slightly above 3/4. The tempo is solid, coil at the top of the lift, and a small pause before getting into leg drive. The arm is clean and he competes. He threw strikes and showed the makings of a good spin pitch.
7/15/20
5-foot-11, 175-pound, strong, solid athletic frame. A right-handed pitcher, simple leg kick, small forward lean down the mound, landing slightly across the body. The arm action is super loose and whippy, gets out front on release. The fastball has a good amount of movement to the arm side. The fastball was clocked at 76 mph, living in the bottom part of the zone, look for a significant jump at some point. Mixed in a true curveball at 59 mph, showing proper spin and shape, will need to add more fastball hand speed. Hitting from the right side, a wider even set up, hands are back on foot strike. The swing is down to level to up, stays behind the baseball., driving it to both sides of the field. The exit velocity was clocked at 80 mph. Defensively, moves around the bag at first well. The glove is soft, showed ability to pick the baseball on throws. The arm action is clean, working from 3/4 slot, clocked at 63 mph. Projecting more off the mound, look for a jump in velocity.

3/11/20
5-foot-11, 175-pound, larger, strong athletic frame for his age. Squared off shoulders with a wider back, having strength throughout. A right-handed pitcher, the hands start and stay low. The delivery is slower paced, easy leg lift, with coil, landing across is body with a closed down front side. The arm action is short and clean on the backside, working from a 3/4 to higher 3/4 slot. The fastball was clocked at 70-73 mph, with action to arm side. The breaking ball was his top pitch for this outing, spin and shape are correct, later break, clocked at 59-61 mph. Threw a changeup at 65-67 mph, thrown firm, a move with finger placement, will take velocity off of it. Should have a jump in velocity, arm works with minimal effort, needs to stay back a tick, more direct with landing foot. Good follow.

5-foot-10, 165-pound, strong, average athletic frame, wider back, with room for future weight gains. A right-handed hitting two-way player. Off the mound, works from the right side, pounded the zone with a three pitch mix. The delivery is simple and repeatable. Works from the set position, lower hands, easy athletic lift, direction is inline to plate. The arm action is super loose and clean working out of a natural 3/4 slot. The fastball showed down action, with some arm side run to it, clocked at 68 mph. The breaking ball was his top pitch, showed proper spin with tilt to it, clocked at 57-60 mph, with feel for a changeup as well, clocked at 62 mph. At the plate, wider stance, relaxed hands, level to up path, approach is more to pull side, has some lift to the swing. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 72 mph, ran 8.77 sixty-yard dash. Defensively, at first base the arm was clocked at 66 mph, working from a 3/4 slot, whippy clean arm action. The glove is soft and fields out front, footwork is correct, needs to quicken over time. Time will tell which way he goes, interesting prospect.
