6/08/19

A projectable athletic  6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Pitching- Displayed a live projectable arm. Works with tempo. Uses a high knee lift before working downhill from a balanced back side. Throws from a mid ¾ arm slot. FB has major arm side run and peaked at 83 MPH. CB is sharp and ranged from 65-68 MPH. Shows feel for a CH down in the zone at 71-73 MPH. Mixed in an SL above average Strikeout pitch at 68-70 MPH. The 2020 RHP is a must follow.

3/24/19

6-foot-2, 170-pound, longer, lean athletic frame, shoulders are squared off, back is wide, with room to fill out. A two-way player, threw the baseball extremely well off the mound, projects out to be able to pitch at the next level. The delivery is compact, gets loaded up on the back side, leg raise has coil to it. The lead leg direction is slightly across the body, gets out front on release, with a good finish. The arm action is shorter, clean on the back side, working from a lower ¾ slot. The fastball has serious arm side run, potential to be a ground ball machine, clocked at 82 mph, more in there over time. The breaking ball is more slurve to slider, clocked at 64 mph. The change up showed to be the better of the two secondary pitches, fade and action to arm side. Times to the plate could quicken were 1.63. At the plate, hits from right side, lower half is under control, gains a good amount of ground, swing is level, with a line drive approach. Looks to stay in the middle of the field, had a tee exit velocity of 79 mph. Defensively at first base, soft hands, clean feet, good target to throw to. The arm was clocked at 80 mph. An athlete, runs well, was clocked at 4.28 from home to first. Big sleeper for me off the mound, could be very valuable, might be a multiple game guy a week.

8/19/18

6-foot-2,170-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball touched 79 mph, arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is 64-65 mph, needs additional fastball hand speed added to the pitch. The changeup is 65-66 mph. The delivery is online with his feet, above ¾ in arm slot. The frame is rail thin, needs additional strength to it. The lift is athletic, small bounce to it. The glove is posted and soft, tracking of the front shoulder comes offline prior to the foot getting down. Occasionally drops his hand slot on the spin pitch. The arm is quick, needs to carry more weight and get stronger, interesting arm.

6/28/18

6-foot-2, 170 pounds, lanky with some lean muscle on the frame, long-limbs, still some projection physically moving forward. Ran a 7.53 sixty-yard dash. Working out at first base, Stone moves around the bag with long strides. Solid glovework, with a comfort throwing from various arm slots depending on the situation. His top throw across the diamond was clocked at 75 MPH. A right-handed hitter, the feet set even in the box from a more upright stance. Rocks weight to back foot with a minor leg kick as the hands load into a hitting position at the shoulders. Level bat path through contact. Worked the middle-pull side of the field during batting practice. Should continue to see more power appear in the offensive profile as he adds strength. His exit velocity was measured at 82 MPH. Stone also stepped on the mound during the showcase, which may be where his biggest strength as a prospect. The delivery creates some deception, as he throws from a ¾ slot with a high, athletic leg kick. Short, quick arm action at the back. Worked a three pitch mix in the workout. The fastball has some late life and was up to 82 MPH. Throws a slurvey breaking ball with some sharp bite late between 67-68 MPH. Changeup is firm, at times showing fade at 71 MPH. Intriguing 2020 right-handed pitcher and developing position player. Worth monitoring his progress this fall and winter as he enters his junior year.

3/24/18

6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Stone has added noticeable strength since his last PBR event. Broad shoulders and back, long limbs, still room to add strength on the torso, an overall projectable prospect. A first baseman and right-handed pitcher, Stone has the athleticism to find a home in an outfield corner as well. Only working out in the cage at the event, he posted a tee exit velocity at 81 MPH. He starts from a balanced base with feet setting about shoulder width apart. Stone takes a moderate stride into the ball, with hands that work high and away from the body. The bat path is level-up, generates bat speed through the zone, good hip rotation, strong two-hand finish. As he adds further strength, could see serious gains on the power front, upping what is already true gap-to-gap juice. Stone is a prospect worth checking out in game action this spring and summer, could be a riser up the ranks with physical development and skill refinement.

7/27/17

6-foot-2, 160 pounds, lanky, long arms and leg legs, has a good pitcher’s build with room to add strength, projectable. Stone works from a ¾ slot on the mound, with a clean arm action and delivery that takes advantage of his long arms. Adding some strength to his lower half will help add velocity in the coming seasons. The fastball was up to 79 mph, showing a solid increase from the winter. The pitch gets natural arm-side run, tailing in on the hands of right hand hitters. The breaking ball remains slurvy in shape and is thrown between 63-66 mph. Tightening the break and finding the shape of a true curveball or slider will be key in his development as a pitcher. Stone has the physical tools to continue his velocity climb and showed good fastball command, harnessing his off-speed repertoire is the next step.

2/18/17

6-foot-2, 160-pound, long and lengthy athletic frame, the neck is long, shoulders are squared off, has plenty of room to fill out. Defensively showed extremely well, the glove is good, footwork is proper to and through release of the baseball, when he continues to move it’s extremely smooth. The hands and feet work well together, the open hip play starting the double is made with ease. The arm action is short, comes out of a high ¾ slot, clocked at 68 mph with more in there. At the plate, he hits from the right side, the stance is even, feet are wider than shoulder width apart and hands held high. The swing path is level across his chest, finishes it with two hands. The backside lower half could get engaged more, for timing uses a minimal stride and shifts weight back, could get some more separation. Off the mound has a simple delivery, hands start and stay high. The direction is inline, has some pull with the front side. The arm action is short with crank like motion to it. The fastball was clocked at 73-76 mph, came out of his hand okay, times to the plate were 1.61. The breaking ball had slurvy spin to it, clocked at 60-64 mph. The change up was clocked at 69-72 mph, didn't go straight, had cut and run to it. Time will tell which side of the field he will go, I like his ability to play defense up the middle with his long and lengthy projectable frame. Strength will aid in his development.
