10/11/15
Second event for Ryan and showed well again. A left-handed hitting catcher, the stance is even, the hands are set low. The bottom half is under control. Shows some power to the pull gap, showed the ability to spray it to the opposite gap as well. The tee exit velocity was 81, the hands are strong. Ran a 4.71 from home to first. Behind the dish the setup is balanced and receives with ease. The arm path is short and quick, was 77 on the gun. Pop times were 1.94-2.04. The frame is strong and durable for a catcher, seems to work well with his pitchers. A sleeper in my mind, left-handed catchers not easy to find.
8/26/15
A left-handed hitting catcher. The stance is open a bit and wide. The hands are low, just below the shoulders, have a little movement to them. The path is flat and the barrel is quick to the ball. The swing is all pull but shows very good pop. The tee exit was 90 and ran a hard 4.51 down the line. In the game made solid contact all day and collected a double. Behind the dish is simple set up, gets side saddled at times needs to be inline. Hands are soft, could stick pitches better but it's plenty good enough. The arm and transfer are his bread and butter, times down to second were 1.96-2.09. Throws were on the bag, arm strength was 77 and flight of ball was downhill. The bat has a chance and he can catch/throw.
At 6-foot, 170 pounds, the frame is strong with room to put added weight on. Hits from the left side, the stance is balanced the hands are set low, sweeps across the ball a little, shows all pull. The barrel was flat and quick through the zone. The bat speed is good and made solid contact all day. Time down the line was 4.51. Behind the dish times down to second were 1.96-2.09. The arm path is short and quick. Definitely a guy to follow, everyone needs a left-handed hitting catcher.
