5-foot-11, 210 pounds, thick frame, slight shoulder slope, can slim frame and add muscle to the upper body. Posted pop times between 2.06-2.13 that should improve as he continues developing his mechanics from the chute. His arm was clocked at 70 mph. Shows feel for receiving as a catcher, good instincts on balls in the dirt to go with his willingness to block the ball. Has the necessary intangibles for the position, helping get his battery mates comfortable and pitching to their strengths. At first base Denis was fluid moving around the bag and his throws across the diamond were clocked at 73 mph. Gets the ball out of his hand quickly on double play throws, with comfort releasing from lower slot to expedite his throws. Typically works from ¾ arm slot. His bat impressed during the workout, using his loose hands to whip the bat through the zone. Good pop in the bat, uses a toe tap with some wiggle in the bat to generate acceleration through the zone. Hands work from the letters and finishes with one hand. Balanced in the plate, keeps weight back with good hip rotation, getting full body into the swing. Posted exit velocity of 89 mph off the tee. Overall, Denis can continue improving his frame but has the work ethic to do so, the attitude to endear to him to coaches, and a good offensive profile. Worth a follow this fall.

5-foot-11, 210-pound, strong, durable, thick frame. A right-handed hitter, top tool is his ability to swing the bat. The stance is slightly open, hands are loose and have some pre pitch movement to them. The lower half is under control, uses a clean, smooth knee to knee load, hands and weight stay back. The swing is level to up, more of a line drive approach, has leverage in the swing. The approach is from gap to gap, with enough juice to beat the outfielders to the pull side. The tee exit velocity was clocked 87 mph, which has been very consistent for him. The swings in the game were good, collected a single and drove a ball well to center. Defensively, works well off the bag at first, hands are soft, feet work well with hands. The footwork was correct in starting the double play, had good rhythm and timing. The arm action is simple, clocked at 73 mph. Behind the dish, hands are strong, gets around the baseball and blocks the dirt ball well. The pop times were 2.06-2.13 and arm was clocked at 72 mph. Works extremely hard on the little things back there, pitchers look to be comfortable throwing to him. Someone is going to get a good one, valuable being able to play two positions with strength with the stick.

5-11, 220 pounds, strong wide, thick athletic frame, runs well for a big kid.. A right-handed hitter, the stance is balanced, feet are in line and are slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Hands are even at shoulder height, are loose and his load has waggle to it. For timing uses a small controlled leg kick and the hands have separation from the body. Swing path is flat through the zone and has a high one handed finish. He stays through the baseball extremely well. He approaches middle to pull, peppered the back wall in BP. Defensively, gets off the bag at first base well, drop steps are clean in starting the double play, arm was clocked at 71 mph across the diamond, he works from the ground up, hands are soft and she showed good glove work around the bag. Also catches, is advanced in receiving and blocking and is a solid frame to throw to. The arm was clocked at 70 mph and pop times were 2.2-2.3. Projects for me as a power hitting first basemen, with the ability to go behind the dish and help.

Big, right-handed hitting catcher with soft receiving skills. Showed a pop time of 2.1 as the footwork and the transfer need to be cleaned up. Threw 68 mph from behind the dish and 71 from first base. The glove is playable at first base. Ran a 5.1 down the line on his dig to first base. The bat has strength to it, the hands work very well, as they are free and clean. Hits out of a wide base setup, the feet and swing are under control. The path to the ball is clean, slightly uphill at times, as he tries to lift, but I like his chance to hit. Tee exit velocity of 87 mph. With work and strength to the frame, he could be a guy who swings the bat down the road. Bat to follow.
2/20/16
5-foot-10, 220-pound thick powerful frame. A right-handed hitter, the stance is slightly wider than shoulder width and is even. The hands are set at shoulder height, gets some separation and uses a heavy toe tap for timing. The swing is level to up, could stay level and through it slightly longer. The tee exit velocity was 85 mph, showed plus bat speed, potential to hit for power down the road. Defensively, behind the plate the feet are wide and even, could be slightly more balanced, he leans forward. The hands are soft and gets behind the ball well, transfer is clean, glove to throwing hand. The arm action is short and comes out from the ear, front side could close up a little more. Clocked at 69 mph, and pop times of 2.13-2.22. Ran a 4.56 from home to first.
