Physical: Strong/athletic 6-foot-1, 195lb frame with good proportions in the build. 6.90 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Wide/even stance with the hands starting flat just above the shoulder; utilized a rocking load into an anchored/bent backside and drove the hands through a flat path with good extension out in front. Notched a 33% line drive rate through the middle of the field showing the ability to lift with ease on pitches out over the plate (361 foot batted ball distance). Worked his way up to a 94 mph bat-exit velocity (86 average) producing consistently loud results over the course of the batting practice round. Strong athlete hitting into a sturdy, stiff front side at impact.
Defensively: The primary outfielder approached with adequate pace, fielding of the inside of his left foot with a soft glove hand. Clean exchanges and gathered with a lengthy, full arm swing through a high ¾ slot (81 mph arm, carry). Projects a stay in a corner outfield spot, though he can really go get the baseball in space.
Pitching: RHP - Started from the middle of the rubber with gradual, pace quickening as he got to the top of the stack, driving down with rhythm into footstrike out of a high ¾ slot (short takeaway). FB entered the zone from 81-83 mph (low-spin, sink) mixing a 71-73 mph knuckle curve (13 inches average HM) for swing/miss on occasion and a good 72-74 mph CH sold at 1432rpms.
Offensively: RHH. Begins in a wide stance with weight on the rear leg. Barrel rests on shoulder and bounces into the load. During the load the hands go slightly down and back in a whippy fashion. Barrel whips into the hitting zone and is flat through it producing a high On Plane %. Sizable leg kick as a timing mechanism. Stays online towards the pitcher throughout the swing.
Pitching: RHP. Begins and drives from the center of the rubber. Utilizes a rocker step that works into a leg lift to waist height. Simultaneously the hands go overhead, then work down to head height. On glove break the arm goes through a full and fluid arm swing. Long levers releasing from a 3/4 arm slot. Quick and efficient move out of the stretch. Low spin FB that will be effective low in the zone.
7/15/20
Physical: Long and athletic 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame with projectability in the build. 7.23 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Even stance with a slight bend into the backside as the back elbow starts high with the hands beginning on the shoulder. Utilized a slight backward move for the load coupled with a knee knock stride to initiate a short, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Stayed relatively high with the posture throughout the swing while hitting into a tall and stiff front side at impact. Demonstrated a mostly pull-side approach working from LCF to the LF line during batting practice. The hands worked out and around the baseball at times creating length, recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 89 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary outfielder displayed active movements with length in the strides and feel on the approach while fielding off of the left side of his body. Quality catch and throw skills with a high ¾ arm-slot that played accurately towards the target with a full arm circle. Could track down balls in the gap and throw runners out at the plate. OF - 79 mph
Pitching: RHP - Short and slow side rocker step as the hands raise over his head, medium leg lift with direction towards the plate at footstrike, arm worked full circle from a high ¾ slot. The FB ranged from 77-78 mph with low spin getting slight downward play at times, mixed in a 69-71 mph SL showing short horizontal movement, and countered with a 74-76 mph CH that needs a greater velocity gap from the FB while being thrown with high intent.
