73.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Physical: 5-foot-11, 210 pounds; Full, sturdy build. 8.34 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Short take back with the hands with a slight leg-kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with a finish around the back. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 95 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; static during pre-pitch while staying low while receiving. Hands are firm while staying low during transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. 2.05-2.08 pop times. C - 73 MPH.
6/13/21
Physical: Durable, powerful 5-foot-11, 210lb frame able to assume a middle of the order role. 8.09 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Started from a balanced, strong-based beginning using a loose start position at the shoulder for launch; stretched backwards initiating the swing with a lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher, flat barrel path and lots of hard contact through the middle of the field/LCF gap over the course of his BP round. Simple, mature actions that passed the eye-test as well as the advanced measurables (72 mph bat speed, 302 foot peak batted ball, 20% hard hit rate). Stayed in the legs with low-pulse attributes at the plate, could use the whole field during gameplay and hit multiple speeds in the approach. Top bat-exit velocity of 91 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary catcher used adequate receiving skills from traditional flashing a soft glove hand at the catch point; pop times ranged from 2.00-2.11 with smooth, consistent exchanges and an accurate 70 mph arm strength (slight arm-side run, used turf at times). Big frame that moved well to either side on blocks, using down angles.
2/07/21
Physical: Strong and well put-together 5-foot-11, 210-pound frame with power in the movements. 8.03 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Bent, wide stance with the hands up by the shoulder in the setup; utilized an early lift and replace stride into a land on the toe, worked down to the full foot when the pitch was in the air. Easy feel for the barrel through a slightly uphill path generating lots of pop through the middle of the field. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 98 mph per Trackman Baseball. Consistently hit it hard, albeit only recorded a 33% line drive rate. Could really get into the baseball evidenced by a 350 foot max batted ball distance. The bat speed and rotational acceleration numbers are there, (22.7 G’s) pointing towards an even further power ceiling down the road.
Defensively: The primary backstop flashed a low target from a traditional setup in the crouch allowing for a soft glove hand at the catch point; adequate receiving abilities. Pop times ranged from 2.00-2.11 seconds while quick transfers from glove hand to throwing ear. The arm played into the throws with accuracy on the target (73 mph) from a short and quick, high ¾ slot. Average blocking skills arriving slightly late with the glove hand while showing ability to deaden the baseball.
9/10/17 5-foot-9, 185-pound right-handed hitter displayed advanced offensive abilities with a chance to be an elite hitter in this class. Starts from a square stance and uses a knee-to-knee stride to initiate his swing from a high hands load. Barreled the baseball routinely during a very solid round of batting practice showing an ability to back spin the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Also flashed above average actions behind the plate with pop times of 2.27-2.38 on throws of 69 mph from the crouch.
