The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Large, high-waisted frame with plenty of strength available throughout the build (6-1, 190lbs). 7.31 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - The righty begins from an upright, slightly open position utilizing a calm, flat barrel position on the shoulder to start. Stretches easily just outside the shoulder coupled with a leg hang stride with hip coil to hold balance. Lands at a wide position with a high-intent attack, flashing connection in the swing as he enters the hitting zone through a flat path. Lots of hard contact over the middle of the field, showing a strong top hand that works to beat the ball to the front of the plate. Recorded a low-to-mid 90’s bat-exit velocity and matched pitch plane early (80% on-plane efficiency via Blast Motion). Middle of the order profile who can situationally hit as well.
Defensively: The primary first baseman worked well laterally, displaying feel around the bag and quick reads off of the bat. Uses a dropstep on occasion when needing extra space on “weird” hops, assisting a soft glove hand that seemingly scoops everything up even more. Solid defender that stays low regardless of situation, can dig it out in the dirt too. High ¾ accurate slot across the diamond off of a clean exchange (77 mph INF velo).
