The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Strong/projectable and athletic 6-foot-3, 205lb frame with feel for the game. 6.89 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, open stance at slightly outside shoulder width as the hands showed slight rhythm by the ear. Utilized a lift and replace stride as a quick trigger launched through a flat path into the hitting zone with leverage/extension at the front of the plate. Continued momentum from a strong back half of the high school season, hitting a prolific home run in the PCL Championship Game in our last look. Handles pitches in any quadrant, ambushing fastballs early in counts with ability to find the barrel consistently. Adjustable athlete that continually lifts the baseball to the middle of the field and does big damage to the pull-side. Posted a smooth 360 foot batted ball distance and 96 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman Baseball. A 33% line drive rate points to the chance to hit for average down the road as well.
Defensively: The primary first baseman did not throw on this date, bouncing around with feel for lateral movements. A soft glove hand corralled softly out in front of the body allowing for a clean exchange to the throwing ear. Picked a few balls during game action with a “down to up” technique.
2/27/21
Physical: 6’3 200lb 1B ran a 6.89 laser timed 60-yard dash. Large frame has good physical size.
Offensively: Starts with a wide set up and his hands in front of his body. Uses a small leg kick to get back to even in his lower half. Hands stay quiet and do not load much. Short and quick to the ball. Shows potential for more power to come out of his large frame.
Defensively: Approaches the ball under control, uses long strides and a long reach to cover ground. Shows ability to throw and recover well back to 1B.
