Physical: Stocky, physical 5-foot-10, 187-pound frame with increased athleticism throughout the past year while making large strides in all measurable categories. 6.95 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH. Crouched, open stance with hands starting high by the ear showing slight bounce on the shoulder, a controlled lift-and-replace stride along with a raised barrel for load purposes creates the timing mechanism and allows the barrel to enter the hitting plane early, getting slightly uphill through the contact point. Found plenty of barrels during a loud batting practice round with present pull-side juice and adjustability in the lower half. Had three extra base hits in game action (one triple) demonstrating the athleticism and improvements made in the past year. Hits into a stiff front side with a strong top hand in the swing generating an above average 92 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman.
Defensively: The middle infielder plays extremely low to the ground with active feet and range to the glove hand side. A strong lower half allows for downhill momentum towards the target yielding accurate throws on the bag and a relatively soft glove hand plays through the baseball at the fielding window. Made the play on the run to the side with a “scoop and pull” technique to the throwing arm ear which displayed the smoothness in the transfers. Showcased ability to make throws from multiple arm angles allowing for accurate throws on the bag / projects best at 2B moving forward.. MIF - 79 MPH.
2/15/20
5-foot-10, 187-pound left-handed hitter starts from a sligthly open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to begin. A soid hip turn creates separation and allows him to atack pitches with intent. Showed above average feel for the barrel with an ability to create some back spin. Registered a bat exit velocity of 85 mph and ran a 7.38 60-yard dash. Worked out at third base on this date, but is likely a second baseman or left fielder at the next level. Displayed capable glove work and developing 73 mph arm strength across the diamond.
7/10/18
5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short, lift-and-replace stride to begin his swing from a high back elbow load. Displayed a strong lower half and a direct swing path with an ability to create backspin during a solid round of batting practice. Showcased an 80 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.63 60-yard dash. Showed active feet and the ability to play through the baseball routinely defensively with 73 mph arm strength across the diamond. Advanced feel for the barrel at the plate makes Burman a prospect to watch early on in this class.
