A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Physical: Strong, compact 6-foot, 191lb frame with some lower half thickness. 7.28 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Balanced, barely open stance as the hands operated calm just above the shoulder. Utilized a leg lift stride with weight-shift into a stiff front side, producing a flat path into the hitting zone. Was able to manipulate tight turns on the middle-in pitch for hard contact through the middle of the field, showing off above-average bat to ball skills during batting practice. Created big-time pull-side juice when getting extended, notching a near 340 foot batted ball distance (via Trackman) and a T95 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak. Generated a 44% hard hit rate with consistency during a solid round (doubles power, middle of the order role).
Defensively: The primary outfielder displayed corner projection with clean lateral movements and some pace through the ball using a soft glove hand off his right side. Maintained balance and shifted the hips/shoulders in line to the target, releasing from a fluid H ¾ slot (82 mph arm, good posture).
Pitching: LHP - The southpaw began off the right side of the rubber using a compact delivery, repeating over the front side from a shorter H ¾ slot. Worked downhill into the mitt from 80-82 mph on the FB, showing some arm-side run across the plate. Mixed a shorter 69-71 mph CB with some depth at 1809rpms and could land a good 75-77 mph CH with sell/fade in advantage counts.
2/06/21
Physical: Large, advanced 6-foot, 191-pound frame with strength and good, proportional length throughout. 7.46 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Balanced, slightly open stance with the hands out in front of the shoulder at a 45 with minor rhythm pre-swing. Utilized a leg lift stride with feel for the timing mechanism allowing the hands to play with leverage at the front of the plate through a flat path. Generated a standout 67% line drive rate during batting practice while creating lift on pitches above the belt (308 foot max batted ball distance). The swing played with high level consistency and worked admirably in all quadrants of the plate, mostly middle of the field approach. 95 mph max bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The outfielder demonstrated an advanced feel for his body in space getting out and around the baseball with ease, really worked through the fielding window with intent utilizing a strong lower half to get in-line towards the target, and let it rip through a high ¾ slot (86 mph).
Pitching: LHP - Worked off of the right side of the rubber primarily with a short side rocker into a traditional leg lift above the belt. Good lower half drive and arm quickness out of a high ¾ slot after footstrike. FB ranged from 80-81 mph with good play down in the zone getting up to -12.3 inches of HM. Mixed a short breaking 70-72 mph SL with good command (75% zone rate) showing ability to throw it in any count to any hitter. Countered with a 72-74 mph CH that also flashed above-average feel; 50% zone rate and -10.9 inches of HM.
