Winter Open (February 11, 2018)
Kruse is a 6-foot-3 215-pound left-handed first baseman and pitcher. Big, athletic build. Ran a 7.65 60 and a 4.94 home-to-1B. Offensively- Starts straight up, with front leg slightly open. Strong, compact swing.  Quiet swing that explodes on contact; extends well and makes hard contact consistently.  91 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- Combines quick feet and long legs to cover ground off the base. Able to turn and fire to second base from a 3/4 arm slot. Fields ball out in front of body and with control. Solid defender around the bag. Pitching- Starts with front foot off to the side of the rubber. Short step starts windup, High leg kick past chest allows to hide ball well. Comes over the top with delivery. Fastball sits 75-76 MPH. Keeps off-speed down and on same delivery as fastball. Flashed a change at 68-69 MPH.
Winter Open (February 17, 2017)
Downstate Fall Preview (October 2, 2016)

Kruse,a 2019 left-handed pitcher/first-baseman, stands at a solid 6-foot-2 and weighs 185 pounds, ran a
7.81 60. Offensively- Starts from a slightly open upright stance with the lead foot up on the toe and hands above the back shoulder with the bat nearly parallel to the ground. Uses a short simple stride movement closing the front foot while the hands come up a bit higher than the back shoulder and the bat gets to about 45-degrees during the launch phase. Showed a pull side mentality, driving balls with moderate power from the pull gap to the line. Would benefit from a more aggressive approach and utilization from the backside rotation which would help improve the exit velocity of 79 MPH shown from this big first baseman. Defensively-  Showed fluid and athletic movements around the bag. Turned the 3-6-3 double play well, with accurate throws to the inside portion of the base line. Quick transfer and shorter arm action, was able to register an arm velocity of 71 MPH across the diamond with the throws showing good carry and accuracy as well. Pitching- Starts from the third base side of the rubber with the body slightly turned toward first base. Gets into the gathered position with a drop step towards the third base line getting the lead knee as high as the waist, while the hands remain centered in front of the chest. Lands slightly across the body but is able to stabilize the landing keeping the lead arm and elbow tight to the body. Fastball showed some cut to the glove side from an over the top arm slot while topping out at 73 MPH. If better extension and a more in sync delivery between the lower and upper half can be adjusted should show more velocity in the future as well as command lower in the zone. Mixed in a changeup at 68 MPH, also with some cutting action as well. During the live scrimmage showed a willingness to challenge hitters on the inner third of the plate.
