6/15/21
Physical: Athletic, lengthy 5-foot-11, 165lb frame with positional flexibility and feel in multiple phases. 6.96 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Crouched, open stance with the hands starting above the shoulder to begin; utilized a short leg lift back to even finding a shoulder-width position at launch, initiating through a flat path into the hitting zone. Lived at head height through the middle of the field with a whippy barrel (extended often, leveraged at the front of the plate) posting a 43% line drive rate via Trackman. Later added an 85 mph bat-exit velocity pointing towards singles power at the moment, though the bat to ball skills stood out at a high level. Possible top of the order consideration making for a tough out in any count.
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured a low posture and attacking footwork, anticipating hops and playing with pace across the diamond with consistency. Gained ground with down chest angles and funneled inward to the stomach, releasing from a quick V-slot at the ear (74 mph arm). Handled the slow roller on the run and manipulated slots at times when ranging. The backstop flashed a low, traditional setup in the crouch receiving softly on the corners with an absorbing glove hand. Pop times ranged from 2.02-2.10 with quick replaceable feet towards the bag, using a clean exchange at the ear (71 mph arm, accurate). Natural blocker deadening the ball out over the plate with good reads out of the hand.
