2/09/19
Primary right-handed pitcher worked out solely as a position-player. 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Turned in the top batting practice round of the day as the ball jumped off of his barrel. Demonstrated repetitive strong, balanced swings notching a bat-exit-velocity of 103 mph. Recorded the fastest 60-yard dash time at the event at 6.87. Showed feel around the bag at first and registered the top infield-velocity of the day at 92 mph.
8/19/18
6-foot-4, 210-pounder sat 90-93 from a high 3/4 arm slot with five strikeouts over two innings of work. Also showcased solid feel for his curveball at 73-76 with two-plane 11/5 shape. Flashed an occasional slider with shorter break at 77-79 and good sell on his changeup at 81-84. Commanded the zone in wet, difficult conditions against a potent Allegheny Pirates offense.
7/16/18
Virginia commit shows advanced arm speed. 6-3, 210-pounder features a prototypical pitchers frame w/ well-proportioned present strength throughout, projectable. Pitches from the stretch only into H ¾ to OTT release from the 3rd base side of the rubber. Clean, repeatable delivery, understands how to get lower half involved consistently. Straight FB shows occasional short cut. Medium downer CB flashes late bite. Proper shape and rotation when he stays on top of it, will get around it at times and will look more like a slurve. Around the zone on this day, projects to command w/ repeatable delivery.
