7/30/13 Baxter is an interesting prospect with a projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 180-pounds. The lefty moves well around the 1B bag and barrels the baseball consistently at the plate. Baxter went 1-for-3 in game action on day two of the event. He utilizes a flat bat path and a rhythmic swing to produce a 76 mph bat exit velocity. It is on the mound that Baxter shows the most promise. He sat 75-76 with arm side run from a high 3/4 arm slot without effort. Thomas also showed the makings of a quality changeup that has late sink at 73 mph. With improvements to mechanics and time to grow into his frame it is conceivable that Baxter will see a significant velocity increase.
