9/20/15 6-foot-2, 180-pound uncommitted senior. Sat 83-85 while touching 87 mph from a high 3/4 arm slot. Struggled with fastball command at times, but showed significant arm-side run and the willingness to work inside on right-handed hitters. Also showcased a 75 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation thrown with good arm speed. Athletic, projectable frame and quick arm make YaSenka one of top unsigned senior arms still out there.
8/9/15 6-foot-0, 180 pounds with an average, athletic build. On the mound, the right handed pitcher uses short, whippy arm action while throwing through a 3/4 slot. Fastball showed life while sitting between 84-87 mph. His 11/5 breaking ball showed some good depth at 73-75 mph. Also mixes in a 77-78 mph changeup. Ran a 4.9 home to first time. At short, the best tool is his arm as he topped out at 82 mph. Quickness in release as he shows the ability to use a near sidearm slot. At the plate, the right handed hitter offers a short, compact swing. Clearly displays his ability to spray linedrives all over the field. Topped out with an 86 mph exit velocity.
2/22/15 5-foot-11, 165-pound prospect with athletic build and some strength to his frame. On the mound, he uses a slow tempo to his delivery. Tendency to land slightly closed. Throws from high-¾ arm slot with downward angle. Fastball shows occasional run at 81-83 mph. Breaking ball shows good 11/5 tilt at 70-71 mph. Changeup is thrown with good arm speed at 70-73 mph. Straight action to the pitch. In the field, he uses short arm action through a high-¾ arm slot. Accurate throws with top velocity of 80 mph. Good hands and can really pick it. Some quickness to his transfer. Will be aided by continuing to develop proper angles to the ball and keeping momentum through towards first base. At the plate, the right-handed hitter uses a short, compact swing. Lower half is initiated with small stride and controlled landing. Slight loft with hard line drive production. Top exit velocity of 80 mph. Ran a 5.04 home to first time.
9-20-2018: Six-foot-two, 205 pound junior transfer from Chesapeake JC, MD, YaSenka ran his fastball up to 92 mph showing some ride up in the zone. Spin rate of 2250+ rpm. Threw with effort and head snap. Flashed an above average, late-breaking slider at 81-82 mph which generated several swing/misses. Spin rate of 2490 rpm. Intelligent pitcher, had a good idea of what he wanted to do on the bump and he’s one to keep an eye on this spring. Reminds me of former Panther, Matt Wivnis, who is now in the Double-A with the Yankees. (Seifert)
