6/21/18 - (Ed Santa Showcase) 5-foot-10, 165-pound projectable body frame. Currently ranked no. 79 overall in PA. In the outfield he has good, fluid footwork while approaching the baseball transfering into his throws. Throws with a clean arm action through a high ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 87 mph. Left-handed hitter has quick hands at the plate. Starts with a slightly open stance getting himself squared back up to even before he swings. Produces good barrel whip action through the zone, recording a top exit velocity of 91 mph and ran a 7.15 60-yard dash. From the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery. His foot lands in a straight line at foot strike and finishes with his momentum carrying toward home plate. Has quickness to his arm speed coming from an upper ¾ slot. Offers a three-pitch mix, with his fastball ranging from 82-85 mph. Curveball has sharpness to it with some late break at times on a 1/7 plane between 62-66 mph. Throws his changeup near fastball arm speed at 66-69 mph.

6/20/18 - Defensively, shows athletic actions in the outfield. Shepard is decisive in reads and takes direct routes. He gets behind and works through ball in the air. Throws are made with solid weight shift, consistent follow and good straight line carry. Glove hand is confident in attacking ball on the ground. Arm strength of 83 MPH was registered by young outfielder.

5-foot-10, 165-pound left-handed hitter initiates swing from open, wide set up with short stride to neutral utilizing a barrel tip. There is balance and rhythm to swing with excellent separation. Hand are quick and loose. Weight shift and hip turn are aggressive. Bat is on plane early and maintained late in hitting zone. There is substantial length. Swing presentation and above average speed from left side make Shepard a versatile, projectable offensive threat. A bat exit velocity of 87 MPH and a 60-yard dash time of 6.84 were registered.

On the mound, worked out of a mid to high 3/4 arm slot with low effort, repeatable delivery. Arm action is long and loose. There is excellent scapular load and arm/hip separation. Efficient use of lower half is demonstrated. FB sat 82-84 with arm side run and sink. CB at 65-68 MPH showed 1/7 shape while flashing late, sharp break and good depth. CH at 68-72 was thrown with good sell and consistent arm side fade. Slider remains a work in progress being commanded inconsistently and showing tendency to back up. Shepard did nothing to change previous assessment as being an arm to follow in Class of 2020.

4/26/18 - Shepard a 5-foot-10, uncommitted 2020, 165-pound OF/LHP, worked out of mid 3/4 arm slot with low effort, repeatable delivery. FB was commanded at 81-83 showing subtle arm side run. CB at 71- 73 flashed solid depth with late break and 1-7 shape. The young left-hander is an interesting follow in class of 2020.
