Physical: Strong and projectable 6-foot, 190-pound frame. 7.40 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: Switch hitter - Mirrored from both sides with more comfortability / power as a RHH; Tall, open setup utilizing slight rhythm in the hands above the shoulder. Displayed a shoulder turn inward coupled with a lift and replace stride to initiate a flat barrel path into the hitting zone. Gets off of the backside early creating negative attack angles on occasion, handsy swing with long levers but finds plenty of barrels. Worked the middle of the field/LCF gap heavily during batting practice with line drives, could stay inside the ball and manipulate the barrel if he needed to. Recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 90 mph according to Trackman Baseball with a 41% ground ball rate.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured average receiving abilities with a soft glove hand / some movement on occasion when arriving late to the catch point, pop times ranged from 2.32-2.41 with short straight line footwork and an accurate ¾ slot from a short arm circle. Got his large frame around the baseball on blocks towards either side of the plate, generating recovery ability to any bag. C - 70 mph
Pitching: RHP - Deep side rocker step with a medium leg lift, lands slightly tall with an arm that works from a minor sling, high ¾ slot. FB appeared from 73-76 mph, mixed in a 62-65 mph breaker with 11/5 shape and a maximum of 1851 rpms of spin according to Trackman Baseball.
2/22/20
Demonstrated feel for a long 6-foot, 185-pound frame with some strength in his actions. The switch-hitter mirrors from both sides utilizing a tall, open setup coupled with a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Generated a flat barrel path through the hitting zone from both sides with more slap in the left-handed stroke. Created a gap to gap approach from the right-side, being more fluid through the lower half. Recorded a 77 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice and ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. The primary backstop showed average receiving skills with some glove hand movement at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.37-2.39 on accurate throws of 69 mph out of a high ¾ arm-slot from the crouch. Could improve straight line footwork by gaining more ground on the initial receiving step. Displayed adequate blocking skills allowing for downward chest angles on both sides of the plate. The right-handed pitcher sat 74-76 mph out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a hook in the back of the takeaway. Mixed in a 63-65 mph curveball with occasional backup and 11/5 action with feel for spin.
