A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+

Physical: Projectable, athletic 6-foot-2, 175lb frame with a high-waist/long limbs in the build.
Pitching: RHP - Started off the middle of the rubber, short side rocker step into a coiled leg lift at waist height, drove downward with slight pull to glove side on the release from high ¾. Got slightly downhill into the zone on a 79-80, T83 mph FB. Mixed big shaped 66-68 mph breaker for occasional swing and miss, and countered with a low-spin (1198 average rpm) CH that faded largely away from LHH.
2/07/21
Physical: Well put together 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame with an athletic profile. 7.19 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Bent, balanced stance with the hands showing circular rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride with a quick, rotational movement across his body. Flat barrel path into the hitting zone yielding a pull-side approach with plenty of line drives present (44.4% line drive rate per Trackman Baseball). Generated an 85 mph peak bat-exit velocity during batting practice and got up to a 295 foot batted ball distance. Interesting 77% on-plane efficiency points towards increasing bat to ball skills at the plate. Handled the pitch over the plate extremely well with a leveraged position at impact.
Defensively: The outfielder featured early downhill chest angles allowing for obvious momentum towards the target, soft glove hand worked accurately off the left side of his body with smooth transfers to the throwing ear. Length in the arm swing with easy extension allowing for an 84 mph arm strength with carry to the plate.
Pitching: RHP - Good pace in the delivery, slight pause at the side rocker, gets to a comfortable stack position slightly above the belt loop and races down the mound with good backside leg drive. The arm worked with fluidity at release through a long, high ¾ slot. Full arm swing allowing for an 82-84, T85 mph FB to play down in the zone (1919 spin) while mixing a two-plane 63-65 mph CB getting up to -12 inches of IVB and 10.8 inches of HM. A 70-72 mph CH is developing and shows near-similar spin to the FB at the moment.
6/15/20
Physical: Projectable and lengthy 6-foot-1, 158-pound frame. Feel for the movements on the bump.
Pitching: RHP - Slow tempoed, deliberate delivery with a slight pause and stab in the takeaway. FB got repeatable dowhill play at 76-79 T80 mph with command in the zone. Mixed in a 62-66 mph CB with slow breaking spin, showing late depth and countered with a 68-69 mph CH at near fastball arm-speed to create deception through the release window. Flashed a 69-70 mph SPL that landed for strikes on occasion with tumbling action on occasion.
2/23/20
Demonstrated feel for a lean and athletic 6-foot-1, 158-pound frame with room to fill out as he matures. The primary right-handed pitcher showcased a deliberate slow-tempoed windup with hip-swivel, limbs moving all over the place, and a hook in the back allowing for a whippy high ¾ arm-slot to deliver 77-80 mph fastballs into the zone. Mixed in feel for a quality 68-71 mph curveball with 11/5 shape and late depth, thrown with solid arm-speed. Featured a 70-73 mph changeup with natural cut across the zone at near fastball arm-speed. Overall impressive bullpen session with athleticism in his arm-swing and should see velocity increases in the future with added strength onto his frame.
