Physical: 5-11, 180 pounds; Athletic, lean build. 7.75 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet narrow; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a moderate swing path with a two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 88 MPH via Trackman. Got on plane well with a max score of 81 via blast motion. Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while being aggressive. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Short take back from a high 3/4 arm slot. 2.13-2.20 pop times. C - 75 MPH. Plus arm up to 76 MPH.
2/06/21
Physical: Long and lean 5-foot-9, 151-pound frame with developing athleticism. 8.19 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Bent, crouched stance with the barrel waving over the backside shoulder at ear height. Utilized a short leg lift stride in order to initiate the bat head through a lofty, slightly uphill path and into the hitting zone. Generated plenty of fly balls during his round (55%) as it was evident his approach was to get it in the air with early body direction down and then up through the attack window. Liked to get leveraged on pitches out over the plate, recording a peak bat-exit velocity of 81 mph per Trackman Baseball. A 271 foot max batted ball distance should keep improving with additional strength.
Defensively: The primary catcher flashed solid receiving ability with above-average pocket awareness. Pop times ranged from 2.33-2.41 while getting straight line with moderately high posture out of the crouch. The arm worked clean after a pause from glove to hand allowing for accurate 66 mph throws towards the target. Adequate blocking skills beating the ball to the spot with the glove hand followed by the body, slow twitch out of the blocking set to recover.
