Physical: Strong / muscular 6-foot, 200-pound frame with increased strength in the lower half. 7.51 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Started from a crouched, even stance with the hands at a 45 with slight wiggle above the head. Utilized a leg lift stride in order to initiate the hands through a flat path and into the hitting zone. Showed slight lift after impact driving the baseball hard through the LCF gap to the tune of 91 mph bat-exit velocities (46% line drive rate). The timing mechanism really worked and allowed him to get into his legs using impressive ground force in the swing. Could run it out of the yard on occasion (324 foot batted ball distance) but mostly just peppered either gap with above-average consistency. Will be a hitter to follow throughout the year.
Defensively: Primary backstop flashed solid and quiet receiving abilities from a low one-knee setup. Pop times ranged from 2.27-2.45 with quality straight line footwork getting the hips and shoulders in-line early in the transfer. The ball hung up for a bit after getting into the throwing hand and worked on the bag with a 73 mph arm strength from the crouch. Displayed feel for blocking technique deadening the ball out over the plate on a spiked fastball … The third baseman played moderately low to the ground with comfortability moving from left to right. A soft glove hand worked effortlessly out in front allowing an accurate 79 mph arm strength to work across the diamond and towards the target.
