Physical: Athletic, strong 5-foot-8, 170lb frame with some burst to his game. 6.98 runner in the 60-yard dash showing versatility across both sides of the ball.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, slightly bent stance with the hands starting flat above the shoulder; utilized a repeatable lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher allowing for good direction in the approach, quick flat barrel path initiated through the zone creating hard hit, line drive contact sprayed over the middle of the field. Recorded ability to lift as well on pitches belt high generating a 46% fly ball rate. Notched an 89 mph peak bat-exit velocity via Trackman Baseball with more in the tank, actions transferred over to good/competitive AB’s during gameplay.
Defensively: The primary backstop flashed a soft glove hand that absorbed the baseball from left knee down receive; pops ranged from 2.00-2.01 with quick/replaceable footwork and a clean exchange at the ear that gets rid immediately. The arm showed sneaky carry (73 mph, high ¾, quick) on the bag with ability to use the turf at times. Athletic blocker getting out and around the baseball with angled, soft shields on the corners. Demonstrated smooth reads and burst from the outfield, good pace during a downhill approach at the fielding window, fielding off the left side of his body. Accurate, loose high ¾ slot and 76 mph arm relegating him to a CF/LF position.
7/15/20
Physical: Compact, athletic 5-foot-8, 160-pound frame with strength throughout. 7.22 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Begins with a wide, even stance showing a slight bend in the knees, the hands start idle on the shoulder in the setup. Utilized a deliberate lift and replace stride coupled with a slow move back to the shoulder for launch allowing the hands to work through a flat barrel path into the hitting zone. Lived in the middle of the field with line drives on either side of second base, showcased advanced control throughout the approach. Didn’t try to do too much and hit the ball where it was pitched as the lower half displayed efficiency while hitting into a stiff front side. Recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 81 mph per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary catcher featured adequate receiving skills with a soft glove hand at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.26-2.34 with short straight line footwork towards the target and a quick, high ¾ arm-slot with a short arm circle on the release from the crouch. Worked to get the body around the ball in the dirt on either side of the plate with ability to create downward chest angles and deaden the ball / showed recovery ability. C - 71 mph … The outfielder was able to play actively with the feet towards the baseball while fielding off of the middle/left of his body. Took adequate routes to the ball with a quick release towards the target, accurate high ¾ slot with a moderate takeaway. OF - 78 mph
2/29/20
Physical: 5-foot-8, 155-pounds. Physical, athletic frame, room to continue to grow. 7.3 runner in the 60; 4.7 home-to-1B. Offensively: RHH. Tall stance, feet shoulder width apart with a slight bend in the knees, hands shoulder high, small quick leg kick into simple load action Level swing path, hands get barrel directly to the ball, head stays steady throughout swing. Up the middle approach. 78 MPH raw exit velocity. Defensively: 2.28-2.31 pop times. Compact, low to the ground setup; soft receiver. Separation between glove and hand causes a delay in transfer; short draw back across the chest as he gains ground towards 2B. Throws lacked carry, mostly one hopped; 3/4 arm slot. C - 71 MPH
