Physical: Upside, athletic 6-foot-3, 195lb build. 7.37 runner in the 60YD.
Offensively: RHH. Narrow, open stance, as the barrel rests just above the shoulder to begin. Utilized a leg-lift stride to initiate the swing through a flat, on-plane path into the hitting zone. Stayed behind the front leg and turned quickly, allowing for pull-side juice. Recorded a T94MPH exit velo at 340FT; huge feel for the sweet-spot.
Defensively: The primary shortstop glided around using the internal clock to finish plays off in rhythm. Able to change arm-angles on the move and can handle any of the three infield positions. Grabbed an 85MPH arm-strength across the dirt.
6/15/21
Physical: Projectable/athletic 6-foot-2, 180lb frame with a high-waist and feel for his body. 7.31 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Bent, open stance with the hands operating freely above the shoulder to start; utilized a leg hang with good stretch in the load at footstrike allowing for a quick, fluid barrel to enter through a flat path into the hitting zone. Created hand separation and drove the ball hard in a pull-side approach during a smooth batting practice round. Was able to turn over the back hip and get to extension with consistency at the front of the plate, posting a T88 mph bat-exit velocity with additional on the way. A more than impressive 67% line drive rate per Trackman Baseball bodes well for the ability to hit for AVG down the road.
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured easy, calculated footwork rounding off routes and getting the chest downhill towards the target early. A soft glove hand funneled into the chest line towards a clean exchange with no issues handling plays on the run. Quick release and sub 4.20 pace from the left side (77 mph arm, high ¾ V-slot). Switched to the outfield later in the defensive workout, covering ground with lengthy strides and feel for his body in space. Stayed behind the baseball in the air generating some momentum to the plate upon fielding; accurate 83 mph arm strength with carry behind it.
2/27/21
Physical: 6’2 185 SS/3B ran a 7.59 laser timed 60-yard dash. Good height and length help his game.
Offensively: Starts slightly open with a wide base. Has a short stride creating good direction. Swing works flat and aggressive through the zone
Defensively: Very active feet that seem to always be moving. Works smoothly to his left and right, keeping his center of gravity low as he approaches the ball.
