Physical: High-waisted 5-foot-11, 180lb frame with projection left and strength carried in the actions. 7.07 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Tall/upright, slightly open stance as the hands showed some rhythm above the shoulder; utilized a quick and controlled lift-and-replace stride out towards the pitcher, initiating the bat-head through a whippy, flat path with some barrel-lag. Fought timing on occasion, but posted a 25% line drive rate / 38% fly ball rate split good enough for a T85 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman Baseball. Loose, repeatable actions that produced hard contact when leveraged at the front of the plate and stayed on a line when using a middle of the field approach.
Defensively: The primary backstop flashed a left knee down setup when receiving with adequate glove hand actions at the catch. Pop times ranged from 2.07-2.16 showing good rhythm and a clean exchange in catch/throw phase, releasing quickly from a moderate, high ¾ slot (72 mph arm) that used the turf multiple times with ACC on the bag.
2/06/21
Physical: Lean / athletic 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame with ability to keep adding strength. 7.21 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Tall, narrow setup with the hands starting at ear height in the stance as the barrel pointed upwards. Utilized a pronounced lift-and-replace stride with some drift out towards the pitcher. The barrel worked through a short and controlled, flat path with whip to it playing in to a mostly leveraged approach at the front of the plate; recorded an intriguing 75% line drive rate during batting practice coupled with a feel for either gap offensively. A 74% on-plane efficiency proved what the eye test saw, the lefty continuously made solid contact. Was up to a peak bat-exit velocity of 87 mph / 304 feet top batted ball distance per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured quality receiving skills from a low and narrow setup. The glove hand beat the ball to the corners and worked back over the plate with increased fluidity. Pop times ranged from 2.18-2.22 with quick transfers from glove to throwing hand. Slight pause before he released from a short, high ¾ slot (71 mph) allowing for accuracy on the bag while getting straight line. Developing blocking skills with good timing in the glove-hand getting down; could get slightly more downhill in the chest angle.
