6-foot-1, 195-pound strong frame. Right-handed hitter starts from an open stance, getting himself squared back up to even before he swings. Hands have minimal load, getting into a good launch position before swinging. Swings with a slightly upward bat path, finishing with a two-handed follow through. Showed strength in his swing during his round of batting practice. Reached a top exit velocity of 93 mph and ran a 4.88 home to first base time. On the mound not much effort is used in his delivery. Lands more closed at foot strike, finishing with his momentum carrying toward home plate. Throws with a clean arm action, with quickness to his arm speed through a ¾ slot. His fastball was thrown consistently at 86-87 mph, and is able to maintain that velocity from the stretch. His breaking ball ranged in velocity from 63-67 mph and was better when it was thrown with increased velocity. The curveball has mostly gradual break at an 11/5 plane, but can improve with increased arm speed. His changeup has good deception, throwing it with fastball arm speed at 72-78 mph.
7/20/16
Physical 6-foot, 200-pounder who pitches out of a three-quarter slot. Compact delivery with slight wrist wrap, while finish can be a bit upright. Fastball sat 84-87 with limited plane, but good life. Slurvy, sweeping breaking ball at 64-67 had occasional depth, while he threw his change-up with good sell at 71-72. Was around the zone with all three pitches.
6-foot, 200-pound righty showcased has shown a significant velocity spike in the past year. Sat 84-85 from a high 3/4 arm slot with some arm-side run to his fastball. Long arm action and high knee stack leads to deception in his delivery. Also showcased a 72 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation and a changeup at 79 mph. Controlled, repeatable mechanics and a physical frame should lead to continued velocity gains.
11/1/14
Preciado has a long, loose arm action with a hook in back and high elbow. From his low-3/4 slot, his fastball sat 77-79 and touched 81. The 6-foot, 180-pounder flashed solid secondary stuff, although he had a tendency to get around his change-up at 69-71 and cast his curveball at 64-67. Preciado starts slightly open and uses a controlled back-to-front stride to get himself square. He has loose hands, throws the barrel, and the ball comes off the bat well. Preciado showed playable actions defensively with solid arm strength from a low-slot whippy arm action.
