Physical: Strong/compact, proportional build (5-foot-9, 160lbs) with developing athleticism. 7.70 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Began from a tall, slightly open operation with the hands working into a rhythmic, slotted position at the shoulder to launch; initiated using a controlled leg-hang creating some stretch to unleash through a flat path into the hitting zone. Was able to continuously lift the baseball, especially down in the zone giving way to a 67% fly ball rate with backspin off the barrel. Notched an impressive 308 foot batted ball distance during batting practice and an 83 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball with good connection at the plate.
Defensively: The backstop demonstrated a low, confident setup from right knee down, working softly at the catch point with the glove hand. Pop times ranged from 2.08-2.12 seconds while showing a pre-set catch/throw position from traditional. Feet replaced well and the ball was in/out of the glove and on its way to the target from a short, high ¾ slot with good extension (71 mph arm). Ability to stay consistent on clean exchanges, absorbing the ball to the throwing ear. Adequate blocker showing off trusted lateral movements to deaden the baseball.
2/14/21
Physical: 5-foot-9, 160LBS. 8.04SEC 60-Yard Dash.
Offensive: RHH. Starts in an upright, open stance with feet shoulder width apart. Barrel rests on the shoulder. Barrel works back into a bow & arrow load as the barrel tilts slightly forward. Has some whip into the hitting zone as he fires. The stride works back to the middle of the field. Slightly uphill bat path.
Defensively: Primary C. Works out of a left knee down and two knee up set up. Limited movement prior to catch and looks to be locked in hips. Transfers at chest height and the arm goes into an abbreviated arm circle. Arm looses momentum as it gets to the top of the arm swing and prior to its forward move.
