The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Wiry, projectable 6-foot, 160lb frame with athletic upside. 6.77 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Narrow, slightly bent stance with even positioning, as the hands operated loosely at the shoulder. Utilized a leg-lift stride, timing up some stretch in the upper-half to initiate the swing through a flat, fluid path into the hitting zone. Plenty of extra-base hit contact during his round and gameplay, finding a T91 mph exit velocity. Showed off advanced rotational scores with room for additional power.
Defensively: The shortstop featured improved actions on the left side of the dirt, gaining ground with downhill angles in the chest and a soft glove-hand out in front. Fielded cleanly and funneled to the chest, getting rid from a H ¾ slot up to 79 mph. Made the play on the run in-rhythm.
2/19/22
Physical: 5-foot-11, 160 pounds; Lean, athletic build. 6.82 runner in the 60. Offensively: LHH. Open setup, with feet narrow; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Extended take back of the hands with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 86 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; uses prep hop while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle while using various arm slots. INF - 78 MPH. Smooth with the glove and transfer to throw
2/06/21
Physical: Long, lean 5-foot-10, 140-pound frame with noticeable athleticism in the movements. 7.08 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Impressive feel for the approach at his age. Started with a bent, even stance with fluidity in the torso and lower half in the load phase as the hands stretched towards the shoulder. Utilized an easy leg lift stride to unload the barrel with authority through a controlled, slightly uphill pat in the hitting zone. Demonstrated repeatable juice to the pull-side gap (RCF) with a 55% fly ball rate and 311 foot max batted ball distance during batting practice. An 88 mph peak bat-exit velocity will continue increasing as he adds strength, which bodes well seeing that he produces up to 28.2 G’s of rotational acceleration in the box (power ceiling). The sky's the limit for what could be a big time riser in the ‘23 class and the swing will always play at a high level.
Defensively: The primary shortstop improved dramatically since the last time we saw him this fall. Got through the ball with up tempo pace and showed intent to play downhill. The chest angles pointed early to the spot he wanted to beat the ball to allowing for increased range in either direction. Flashed accurate 75 mph arm strength across the diamond with some fluidity in a moderate, high ¾ slot. Featured the ability to make plays on the run as well; could easily handle the shortstop position down the line as he keeps adding arm strength.
