Physical: 5-Foot-7, quick twitch athlete. The Penn State commit moves well in all aspects of his game. Ran 6.8 60-yard dash at the ProCase. Compact build with a high ceiling as a two way.
Offensive: Simple swing that starts slightly open. Simple load, hands start at shoulder height and work straight back. Simultaneously the lead leg does a simple up and down as he starts to drive towards the pitcher. Simple, repeatable swing. 79% On-Plane% with an average rotational acceleration of 25.31.
Defensive: Moves side to side well and fields ball out in front. Obvious strength in the arm which is extremely quick. Utilizes the lower half drive during a shuffle and throw towards the 1B Bag. 94MPH throwing velocity across the diamond.
Pitching: Quick twitch actions continue on the mound. Gets into lower half and transfers energy efficiently up the kinetic chain. Begins with right foot on the 1B side of the rubber. Quick rocker step to a leg lift to chest. Glove stay's at chest level until hand break. Arm action is clean and has slight bend in the elbow during the arm swing. Hard drive to the plate in a high effort delivery. FB worked up to 91MPH, sitting 89-90MPH, with a high spin rate of 2563.
2/16/19
5-foot-6, 140-pound two-way prospect put together one of the top performances of the two day event. A member of the Team PA 14U roster at the 2018 PBR Junior Future Games, Cease continues to show development across the board in his skills. The right-handed hitter showcased a compact, line drive approach at the plate with a feel for the barrel and an 87 mph bat exit velocity. He ran a 6.59 60-yard dash and flashed an event record 93 mph arm strength across the diamond defensively. An above average defender, Cease could easily make the move to the outfield at the next level. The two-way prospect finished his impressive performance by sitting 85-87 on the mound out of a repeatable, compact delivery. He also showed a feel for his curveball at 73-74 with tight 11/5 rotation and a changeup at 80-81 thrown with similar arm speed.
