A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball

Physical: 6-1, 170 pounds; Proportional, slight build. Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with a slight coil away from the plate. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while showing some scap load; standard 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 82 MPH, while sitting 79-82 MPH; commands both sides. CB: 66-69 MPH; spots and expands. CH: 73-75 MPH; fading action.
2/18/23
Physical: 6-foot-1, 170 pounds; Proportional, slight build. 7.83 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Extended take back of the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a compact swing path with a two handed finish. More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Displayed a gap to gap approach with some pull side pop. Defensively: Starts with a low to the ground setup; uses prep step while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a low 3/4 arm slot. INF - 80 MPH. Pitching: Uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Belt high leg drive with a slight coil away from the plate. Has a moderate stride landing inline with the plate. Long arm swing while showing some scap load; standard 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 81 MPH, while sitting 79-81 MPH; arm side run. CB: 68-69 MPH; showed depth. CH: 70-72 MPH; runs. Showcased a three pitch mix with the ability to command both sides of the plate.
2/13/22
Physical: Lean, lengthy 6-foot-1, 165lb frame. 7.65 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Taller, open stance with the hands showing circular rhythm to begin. Utilized a short lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher, as the backside anchored into the ground to initiate the swing through a flat path into the zone. Comfortable two-handed finish, squaring the baseball out over the plate for an 86 mph bat-exit velocity. Could get the ball into the air consistently and created some backspin at times when getting the head extended.
Defensively: The primary middle infielder bounced in the prep-step, using momentum and pace to get over the front side at the fielding window. Worked well to his left, releasing in sequence up to a 76 mph arm-strength from a H ¾ slot.
Pitching: RHP - Moderate pace in the delivery, hiding the ball with hip coil at the top of the stack. Slight back-leaning posture down the slope as the gate opens and H ¾ release gets off on-time. The FB showed sink for strikes at 74-76 mph and landed a horizontal breaking ball out of the same window. A developing 68-70 mph CH finds consistent arm-side action as the third offering.
