A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Slider

Physical: Projectable, strong 6-foot-2, 195lb frame with even proportions/athleticism.
Pitching: RHP - Started off the far left side of the rubber as the rocker worked to a wide position before swinging up to a slight hip-coil at the stack. Held tempo down the mound and landed slightly upright creating north, south tilt on the ball with the shoulders. Released from a H ¾ slot, appearing heavy into the zone at 81-83 mph with a 55% zone rate (via Trackman). Mixed a sharp, downer 71-73 mph with consistent depth (-9 inches IVB). Countered with a lateral 66-68 mph SL up to 21 inches of HM at its peak (T2138rpms).
6/13/21
Physical: Strong, thick frame with good proportions throughout the build (6-2, 195lbs). 7.36 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Began in a balanced, upright stance with the barrel resting flat on the shoulder to start; utilized a barrel rock and lift above the shoulder for launch coupled with a short toe tap stride to initiate the swing though a flat path into the hitting zone. Easy rotational power and on time to the low pitch in any quadrant. Was able to lift pitches above the belt with backspin to the pull-side gap (LCF) and produced a 91 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball / 326 foot batted ball distance. Middle of the order projection down the road with 78 mph peak bat-speed.
Defensively: The primary third baseman beat the ball to the spot with comfortability moving to the backhand side. Long levers that played away from the body in order to attack, smooth glove hand that could push and pull depending on the hop. Solid pace and accurate, high ¾ slot with length on the way through (79 mph arm).
Pitching: RHP - Started off the left side of the bump with a deep side rocker into a high stack position, holding gradual momentum throughout the delivery. Exploded down the mound after footstrike from a high ¾, high-intent release. Worked 80-82, T83 mph with slight downhill tilt into the zone (strikes, arm-side run) and countered with a wiffle-ball like 68-70 mph SL accruing up to 20 inches of HM on occasion to the glove side. Added a knuckleball here and there to keep hitters off balance.
2/06/21
Physical: Large, well put together 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame with easy strength in the movements. 7.62 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Balanced, slightly-open setup and becomes upright during the load phase when the hands stretch back above the shoulder. Utilized a toe tap while the barrel worked through a flat path into the hitting zone evidenced by a 58% line drive rate per Trackman Baseball. Repeatedly demonstrated power projection with hard contact through the LCF side of the field; feel for extension in the box as well with occasional lift. Recorded a 300 foot peak batted ball distance with room for more in the near future. Used the lower half well at the plate, but could get even lower in the posture.
Defensively: Primary third baseman flashed accurate footwork that played up tempo at the hot corner. Soft glove hand worked off of the left side of the body with feel for pace across the diamond. Up to 79 mph from his position and handled the play to his left side extremely well.
6/15/20
Physical: 6-foot-2, 170 pounds; long, projectable frame. 7.51 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. upright, balanced stance with feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart; uses a toe tap and a small stride for timing. average effort with short, compact, uphill bat path; 20 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Cornell is able to produce 11.1 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 46%. Consistent hard fly balls to the gaps; average Trackman exit velocity of 85 MPH; peak exit velo was 93 MPH. Defensively: Upright, walks into ready position; Upright, walks into ready position. choppy footwork to the ball, works from the ground up; short arm swing with a 3/4 arm slot.INF - 76 MPH.
2/22/20
Showcased a large 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame with projectability and present strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins with a wide, even stance utilizing a toe-tap stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Featured a fluid lower half allowing for solid hand speed through the ball yielding an 86 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice. The third baseman flashed average footwork with a high center of gravity. Soft hands played out in front and repeatable transfers allowed for accurate 78 mph arm-strength across the diamond. The right-handed pitcher sat 78-80 mph with late ride high in the zone out of a high ¾ arm-slot. Mixed in a 62-64 mph curveball with 11/5 action and depth, thrown with feel and repeatability at release point.
