The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame. Two-way projection, 7.16 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Connects to the ground well in the stance from an open setup as the hands operated flat at the shoulder. Utilized a knee knock stride to initiate the swing through a flat, quick path into the hitting zone. Some burst to pull and matched plane early in ball flight, able to keep it on a line up to an 88 mph bat-exit velocity (335 foot distance). Solid bat to ball skills and top of the order ability.
Defensively: The outfielder moved efficiently in either direction and shows off positional flexibility across the diamond. Recorded an 86 mph arm strength with footspeed to cover both gaps and should be able to handle any of the three OF spots.
Pitching: RHP - The primary RHP stands off of the middle of the rubber featuring quicker pace and a high leg lift that maintains momentum to the mitt. Sutton landed the FB at 79-81 mph with good extension out in front, mixing an upper-60’s curveball with short, gradual movement. A 69-72 mph CH pronates well and has improved since our last look.
6/15/21
Physical: Athletic, projectable 5-foot-10, 156lb frame with lengthy actions. 7.05 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Bent/crouched and open stance with the hands resting flat on the shoulder to start. Utilized a lift and replace stride bat to even to deliver a whippy, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Showed lots of lift through the middle of the field on a 56% fly ball / 34% line drive rate split with natural carry and backspin to CF. A T90 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman and 323 foot batted ball distance demonstrated available juice on his best swings to pull while hitting into a stiff/adjustable front side. Extremely comfortable on pitches out over the plate with doubles PWR available.
Defensively: The outfielder featured good reads off the bat with choppy footwork and low posture while staying behind the baseball. A soft glove hand fielded off the left side and released from a loose H ¾ slot with downhill momentum (T87 mph arm strength, corner OF projection).
Pitching: RHP - Started off the left side of the rubber with above-average pace getting to a balanced stack position and driving down with separation into footstrike. Released accurately from H ¾, running the FB into the zone at 78-80 mph with natural ride (21 inches average IVB). Mixed a shorter 66-68 mph CB on an 11/5 tilt and countered with a commanded 71-73 mph CH flashing advanced with up to 15+ inches of fade at its peak.
10/05/19
5-foot-9, 130-pound primary pitcher sat 74-76 out o a high 3/4 arm slot with a long arm motion. Curveball displayed 11/5 rotation at 61-64 and changeup at near fastball arm speed sat 65-68. The left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased a line drive approach with some feel for the barrel. Registered a bat exit velocity of 75 mph and ran a 7.64 60-yard dash. Displayed athletic actions while consistently gaining ground in the infield with accurate 79 mph arm strength across the diamond. Also played through the baseball with regularity in the outfield with above average 81 mph arm strength.
