Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6/12/18 Defensively, feet work well in creating optimal angles and hops. Consistently works bottom up and out front with soft confident hands. Arm strength of 76 mph was registered on throws across the diamond.
Offensively, initiates swing from neutral set up with controlled stride staying neutral. The back elbow is passive in load and there is considerable bat wrap lending to length. Kern stays behind the ball well achieving solid leverage. There is good backside release while working into a firm front side. Swing path is somewhat uphill. A bat exit velocity of 78 mph was recorded.
On the mound, works out of a high 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action and low effort delivery. Shows ability to repeat delivery. There is considerable late run to FB at 77-78 mph. CB was inconsistent on this day but at best showed 11-5 shape with late, sharp break. CH at 73 lacked separation but demonstrated consistent late arm side run and sink while being commanded. Overall presents as interesting Class of 2019 follow with projectable velocity bump.
