Physical: 6-foot-0, 170 pounds; Long, muscular build. 7.3 runner in the 60. Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; upright bat position. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a long swing path with a late one hand finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 92 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while aggressive. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Long arm swing from a low 3/4 arm slot. OF - 80 MPH. Pitching: Collazo uses a center rubber setup while using a side step. Mid chest leg drive with a slight lean over the belt. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Long arm swing while showing some scap load, while working through a low 3/4 slot. Upright with finish. FB: Peak velo of 86 MPH, while sitting 84-86 MPH; arm side run. SL: 72-74 MPH; short action. CH: 77-79 MPH; fading action.
7/20/21
Physical: The recent Penn State-Harrisburg commit stands an athletic 6-foot, 170lbs with feel on the bump.
Pitching: LHP - Started from the right side of the rubber using active pace in the delivery; holds tempo through the leg lift (big hip coil, medium position at the waist) riding momentum down the slope with good separation in the arm swing (H ¾ slot). The FB appeared often at 81-83 mph with heavy arm-side run and 1775rpms average (14 inches HM via Trackman). Mixed in a lateral 67-69 mph SL with gradual shape, able to hold the zone for strikes in any count. A 73-75 mph CH was thrown with advanced sell out in front, commanding to both sides of the plate as a quality third offering.
6/28/21
Physical: Athletic 6-foot, 170lb frame with flexibility and length found in the actions, strike thrower on the bump.
Pitching: LHP - Operated off the middle of the rubber from a wide start, working gradually up tempo into a controlled stack position with big time hip coil across the body. Opened up and rotated down the slope into footstrike showing easy separation and arm talent from H ¾ slot (79-82 mph FB, strikes, arm-side run away from RHH). Recorded 16 inches of average HM back to AS, missing barrels early in counts, later adding a sweeping 68-70 mph SL that frisbee’d at times, biting hard to the deadzone of hitters at near 2100rpms max (via Trackman).
6/13/21
Physical: Lengthy, athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame with prototypical proportions in the build. 6.97 runner in the 60-yard dash flashing ready two-way abilities.
Offensively: LHH - Started from an even, balanced setup with the hands at the shoulder; utilized a barrel tip and very short lift and replace stride to stay connected to the ground and initiate the hands through a quick/flat path into the hitting zone. Produced tons of lift to the pull-side gap (RCF) and could go backside on pitches out over the plate. Kept the barrel palm up/palm down through impact, allowing for minimal ground-balls and hard contact when on time at the front (93 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball).
Defensively: The outfielder displayed a ready skillset, approaching with attacking style on the toes and out over the front side with momentum towards the plate. Fielded off the right foot with a soft glove hand funneling inward and released through a whippy, short high ¾ slot.
Pitching: Primary left-handed pitcher began off the middle of the rubber with a deep side rocker into a coiled leg lift at waist height. Drives outward towards the plate and the arm whips into a lower, high ¾ slot with funk at release. Created lots of arm-side run off the plate to RHH, sitting form 82-85 mph with increased effectiveness. Great showing overall missing barrels with all offerings, mixing a tight 71-72 mph SL across the plate for K’s.
2/06/21
Physical: Lean, athletic 6-foot, 165-pound frame with raw talent in all phases. 7.42 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH. Wide, even setup with the hands idle at the shoulder. Utilized a quick and repeatable lift and replace stride into a heel raise in order to initiate the hands through a slightly uphill path into the hitting zone. Generated consistent, hard contact through the middle/RCF side of the field with a 43% line drive rate per Trackman Baseball. A 21% hard hit rate was impressive yielding a 92 mph bat-exit velocity, as was a 344 foot peak batted ball distance. Featured solid Blast measurables as well and could have some success offensively if the actions continue cleaning up in the box. A 24 mph hand speed and 19.1 G’s of rotational acceleration both point towards usable juice down the line.
Defensively: The outfielder worked hard to get behind the baseball and play downhill through it. Showed off a soft glove hand playing accurately off of the right foot on the approach. Accurate, high ¾ slot on the release and a 76 mph arm strength from his position.
Pitching: LHP - Adequate pace on the bump with a drop and drive delivery. Medium leg lift and a wide base throughout allowing for some natural cut on an 80-82 mph FB holding the zone at a 25% rate. Mixed in a developing 70-72 mph CB with short, late HM (4.5 inches). Countered with better feel on a 64-67 mph SL working up to 2000+ spin and 12.4 inches of HM across the plate. A 71-73 mph CH has a chance in the future with good sell and almost 13 inches of fade to the arm side.
6/15/20
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame with plenty of projectability and feel for his body.
Pitching: Works at a slow pace in the delivery with control and quality in line leg drive towards the target. The arm played with quickness through a high ¾ arm-slot with a slow takeaway on the backend allowing for a 79-82 mph FB in the zone with natural cut. Mixed in a tight and late breaking 71-73 mph SL as the strikeout pitch and commanded it back knee to righties in-game. Featured some intriguing abilities on the mound during a solid performance overall.
11/02/19
5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Displayed a high finish while routinely staying behind the baseball. The lefty sat 79-80 off the mound from a 3/4 arm slot with some arm-side run to his fastball. Displayed a feel for spin on a curveball with slider shape at 67-71. Changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 74-77.
