1/20/19 - 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter initiates from a square stance utilizing a toe-tap stride. Used a solid lower half to generate good extension through the ball as he registered a 76 mph bat exit velocity during offensive evaluations. Ran a 4.53 home-to-first time. Strong lower half translated to defensive evaluations as evidenced by his event best 81 mph outfield arm. Right-handed pitcher started from a high 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action as his fastball sat 78-79 while topping out at 81 mph. Featured a 62-64 mph curveball that showed 10/4 break. Changeup was 64-66 with strong arm-side run and above average sell.
1/21/18 Offensively, initiates swing from neutral set up with knee to knee leg kick and stride staying neutral. The back foot is slightly open in set up. There is solid weight shift, hip turn and separation. Good rhythm, balance and leverage are present. Bat path is slightly uphill. Benefit would be gained in closing back foot in set up. Overall, there is considerable upside with coming physical maturation. A bat exit velocity of 76 mph was recorded.
Defensively as OF, plays through the ball on the ground while staying behind the baseball and showing solid weight shift and follow on throws. Benefit would be gained from playing ball off glove side foot without funneling.
On the mound works out of high 34 arm slot with aggressive leg kick and hip coil. Delivery shows good rhythm and is repeated well. There is first base fall. Deception is created by hip coil and high glove hand. FB sat 75-77 mph with little movement. CB at 62-63 mph was inconsistent but at best demonstrated late break and moderate depth with 11-5 shape. CH at 66 mph was thrown with good sell and consistent arm side fade/ sinking action.
