5-foot-10, 155 lbs carrying a bit more weight/mass than what we saw back in February. Athletic, compact frame. Balanced, relaxed set-up in the box. Lower half is slightly open with subtle flexion in back leg. Takes a low forward stride as he slowly glides into landing. Hands stay loaded just below rear shoulder. Uses a short move with the hands prior to swing to create some rhythm. Barrel stays inside of the ball and creates consistent lift into the OF throughout BP. In multiple looks, has shown the ability to use the big part of the field and demonstrates a mature approach to consistently put barrel to the ball & not try to do too much. Defensively, the actions on the INF are crisp and polished. Moves very well & flashes plenty of body control. Light footwork. Plays low to the ground with minimal effort. Quick exchange into throwing motion. No-nonsense approach to getting the ball out quickly. Manipulates arm slot as needed and delivers the ball with consistent accuracy. Quick hands on the double play feed. Well rounded skill-set with the ability to handle multiple INF spots.
6/24/20
5-foot-9, 150 pounds with strong legs for his frame and average build in his upper half. Starts in the box with a narrowly open lower half and tall posture. Uses a low leg lift to create a subtle weight shift onto his backside with a slight coil from his upper half. Slow, deliberate load with a soft landing as he gets into a wider hitting base. Smooth, fluid barrel path into contact. Keeps hands tight and stays connected throughout. High finish. In the infield, flashed sound, repeatable footwork and a consistent tempo with his actions. Tall pre-pitch set up with slight forward movement prior to his first step. Keeps a soft glove hand when funneling ball in. Short, bent arm action with a ¾ release point. Backside comes thru after release helping throws maintain carry to the bag.
