A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average

5-foot-11, 190 pounds with a more defined, strong build. Showed progress across all measurables from what we saw last summer. Improving 60 time to 7.26 while flashing added arm strength and more power at the plate. Offensively, showed a slightly wider base in his set-up with lead leg narrowly open. Leg kick is a lower, more controlled move. Hovers on backside into soft, balanced landing. Moves well through rotation and lets the barrel work to the ball. Loose, low effort swing producing mostly line-drive contact. Holds finish against a firm front side. Defensively moved well in the INF with clean, controlled footwork and easy actions. Maintains body control while working around the ball and exchanges with tempo/rhythm. Short, compact arm action with high 3/4 release. On the mound, saw a jump in velo and peaked at 84 mph with the FB. Ball shows life out of hand with carry into the zone. Mechanically the arm action has morphed from a longer stab motion on the backside into a short, tight arm circle with quick hand speed. Delivery is still quick paced and consistent. Working with a balanced leg lift and clean direction towards target. Stays in lower half and rotates well out over front side. Showed aptitude for spinning a tight SL with short, late break and depth thru the zone. Up to 2400 rpm. Overall it was an impressive pre-season performance for Plunkett as a 2-way prospect who made impressive strides in-between the looks we had at him.

5-foot-11, 195-pound sturdy, durable frame. Hits from a quiet balanced stance with a slow compact load. Hands shift back slowly as he uses a short stride to initiate his swing. Showed an uphill path to the ball with some lift at contact. Loose, whippy barrel action thru the zone. Aggressive approach throughout BP with some pull-side power. High one-handed finish. Clean actions defensively in the infield. Size/power combination profiles well at 3B. Showed soft, sure hands when funneling ball in and a clean exchange that syncs up with his footwork. Consistent accuracy to the bases on his throws from a high ¾ slot with a short arm action. Confident, aggressive approach on the mound. Uses a longer a long arm action than we saw in the INF with a smooth, continuous path. Up-tempo type pitcher who keeps a steady pace and easy, repeatable effort throughout. Stays tall at balance point then shows some uphill plane in his shoulders at hand break. Lands square with an upright finish. FB shows running action and low in the zone control with heavy movement. Had gradual action and consistent control on his 11/5 curveball (64-69). Also had a heavy changeup (68-69) that showed fading action in the bottom of the zone
