Our staff has seen Carey several times this summer and the 6-foot, 200-pound right-hander continues to impress with his ability to change speeds with a quality three-pitch mix. Carey locates well with the fastball, sitting comfortably in the 88-92mph range throughout his starts. The slider is the out-pitch with more of a downer look at 81-83mph and can land for strikes or whiffs out of zone. The Michigan commit is also comfortable with the changeup at 84-85mph. Works ahead with the fastball and was able to generate whiffs on both the slider and changeup. An arm and talent who looks ready to compete at the next level, whether that’s in college at Michigan or at the professional level.
