Keep reading, but Salerno is a left-handed catcher who some people will balk at, but we’ve seen him in game and he can catch, and throw. It’s not what you expect to see normally, but Salerno has the arm strength and feel to be an adequate defender. He has the profile, mentality and frame to handle the position and the IQ to go along with it. At the plate, there is balance and bat speed from the left side, mixed with a small leg kick to launch, Salerno looks to drive balls in the air and showed the most pop to his pull side in BP. He has the ability to play the outfield and can help on the mound, but we like the fact Salerno is all out behind the dish and the tools suggest he can stay there right now and possibly for the future.
