Listed at 5-foot-9, 165-pounds, Shahin is a catcher for the Pickering Prospects. Behind the plate, he was 2.19-2.25 during catcher pops, working with a short arm action that was up to 71 mph. At the plate, it’s a line-drive stroke with a focus on using the middle of the field, and when he gets his bat head out front, he has the chance to drive the ball. He's an interesting catcher to follow in the 2021 class.
6/29/19
Shahin, a 2021 right-handed hitting catcher with room for added strength gains who is listed at 5-foot-8, 170-pounds. Defensively, transfer is clean and worked between a 2.22 and 2.25 pop time, throws were accurate and online, getting into his legs and gaining ground should help improve his 65 mph out the crouch. At the plate, slightly open stance, hands work to well to ball, has feel in the box and looked comfortable. Gap to gap approach and with added strength, will see added bat speed and juice off the barrel. IQ is there and fundamentals to work with, seems to understand the game, will see what a winter in the weight room and continued development will do for Shahin.
