Russell threw one of the most impressive bullpens on the day from a short action in the back and out a ¾ slot. He moved the fastball around to both sides of the plater with some arm-side run, working down in the zone and a repeatable delivery with regular effort. The breaking ball worked in the 72-73 range and filled the zone, working again down and too his glove side with 11/5 shape. A nice 2021 who continues to trend upwards with feel and ability to pitch.
2.10.19 Russell, a 2021 infielder, is a member of the Ontario Terriers organization. From the right-side, Russell displays intent with a solid base, coming towards the baseball in an ideal manner. He racked up an exit-velo of 78 mph, and with mechanical adjustments to come, that velo will improve drastically. In the infield, Russell gets low and allow’s his glove actions to work freely. He is currently up to 74 mph across the infield. On the bump, Russell is clean mechanically, working freely from a high 3/4 arm slot. He shows the ability to locate all three of his pitches and has the makings of being a contributor on the mound in the future. Russell is an interesting 2021 to watch throughout the season and beyond.
