Rutherford, a 5-foot-8, 155-pound, uncommitted shortstop out of the Ontario Prospects, is a twitchy player that displays tools all over the diamond. In the field, he shows smooth movements and the ability to make throws from different arm slots with proper footwork. At the plate, he displays the ability to catch barrels consistently with his loose, twitchy swing and has been up to 88mph exit velo. The ability to be a contact hitter is there.
Rutherford runs a 6.65 60 time, so his speed will play on the base paths and in the field at the next level. Rutherford is coming off an injury, but he’s an intriguing prospect that college coaches should be looking out for as a sleeper in 2022.

It’s a rotational swing with bat speed and looseness, he shows bat-to-ball ability and was up to 82 mph at the exit velocity station.
