6/6/17
A proportional 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame. Works only out of the stretch, starting in a narrow set-up with some knee bend. Uses a high leg kick, arm circle is moderate with some hand speed out front. Fastball keeps its plane at 81-84 mph. Curveball shows consistent late depth and some tight spin with 11/5 shape, 74-75 mph. Changeup has some sink, 74-77 mph. In the game, threw mostly strikes, missed down in the zone.
12-17-17
A 6-foot, 180-pound proportional frame. On the mound, works only from the stretch using a high leg kick and a slight coil before gliding to the dish. Arm action is moderate in the back with a quick change of direction coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball was a bit down from where we have seen in before, sitting 79-81 mph at this event. Slider shows later cutter type action, flashing late depth. Changeup shows consistent arm side run, 69-71 mph, around the zone.
2/4/18
Committing to Kansas City Kansas Community College after the Preseason All-State Showcase, McCormick measures 6-foot, 180 pounds. On the mound, works only from the stretch with an up-tempo and athletic deliver with a high leg kick. Arm action is quick in clean in the back with moderate length and a fluid circle before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball sat 80-82 mph though we have seen him up to 84 previously, occasional cut and some feel for the zone. Slider has tight spin get big and sweepy at times, others is short and late, solid pitch, 76-77 mph, some strikes. Changeup has slight arm-side run, good feel for the zone. Overall, McCormick will likely have a chance to help KCKCC right away with feel for three pitches that will challenge hitters.
